SBI TOP flat in mixed trading
The SBI TOP benchmark on the Ljubljana Stock Exchange was flat at 832.41 points in mixed trading on Monday, as Krka and Telekom offset heavy losses by Luka Koper and Petrol. Turnover totalled EUR 900,000.
The value of industrial production in December 2018 lower at the monthly and at the annual level
In December 2018 the value of industrial production decreased at the monthly level for the second consecutive month: this time, by 1.5%. It also decreased by 3.1% compared to December 2017. In 2018 the value of industrial production increased by 4.6% compared to 2017, a 3.4 percentage points lower growth than in the previous year. The value of industrial production was higher in manufacturing and in electricity, gas and steam supply (by 5.0% and 1.2%, respectively) and lower in mining and quarrying (by 1.6%).
Dow falls amid lingering fears over US-China trade and global growth; Europe closes lower amid heightened US-China trade tensions; Wirecard falls 15%
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell on Friday as market participants continued to worry about ongoing U.S.-China trade negotiations as well as slowing economic growth. The Wall Street Journal reported on Friday that the two countries have not yet put together a draft on the matters they agree or disagree. The report comes as a key early March deadline approaches. The 30-stock index fell 63.20 points to 25,106.33, notching its first three-day losing streak since December. The S&P 500 eked out a small gain, rising less than 0.1 percent to 2,707.88. The Nasdaq Composite ended the day up 0.1 percent at 7,298.20. European stocks closed lower Friday amid fears over U.S.-China trade relations and slowing economic growth. The pan-European Stoxx 600 closed provisionally off by 0.54 percent with most sectors and major bourses in the red. Autos were the worst-performing sector — down 2.19 percent — on growing fears that U.S.-Sino trade relations will deteriorate. Looking at individual stocks, Wirecard slumped to the bottom of the Stoxx 600 after police in Singapore said they had raided the German payments firm's premises in the city state. Wirecard has been dogged by developing reports of an accounting scandal at its Singapore office. Shares sank 12.31 percent. Ubi Banca had a tough trading session. The Italian bank reported fourth-quarter results which came in below expectations. Shares were suspended from trading after they fell more than 5 percent in early deals, Reuters reported.
AERO: Vinci to present plans for Belgrade Airport on February 13
Vinci, the new concession operator of the Nikola Tesla Airport, will organize a ceremony at the airport terminal building on February 13, 2019, in order to present its plans for the Belgrade Airport, the Tango Six portal reports. The event will be attended by Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic, and the French company is expected to present more precise plans for the mandatory infrastructural extensions and other projects it will carry out. The latest piece of indirect information about the planned infrastructural extensions and other works was reconstructed from a press release made by the Greek construction company Terna, which said that Vinci and Terna would carry out construction and enhancement works within the Nikola Tesla Airport worth EUR 262 million over five years.
Bechtel hopes for construction of Morava Corridor to begin by 2019
Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic talked to representatives of Bechtel and Enka in London about the construction and the manner of financing of the Morava Corridor, that is, the highway from Pojate to Preljina, worth around EUR 800 million, whereby she completed her official two-day visit to Great Britain. We have been working on the project-technical documentation for the 110-km corridor for two years now with one of the best companies in this field. In the upcoming months, we will agree on the financing model – Mihajlovic said. Michael Wilkinson, Senior Vice President Bechtel and General Manager for Europe, Africa and the Middle East, pointed out that the company was very dedicated to the project, the ministry announced.
Serbia ready to start construction of TurkStream section
The construction of a gas interconnection from Serbia's border with Bulgaria to the Hungarian border will begin in late March or early April, Srbijagas CEO Dusan Bajatovic said Thursday. Addressing the Serbian parliamentary committee on the economy, regional development, trade, tourism and energy, Bajatovic said Serbia's opinion on energy security and the need for such infrastructure was no different from that of the Energy Community but that the country had a different view on the issue of competition. ""We do not share the same view on this; all measures requested by the Energy Community are legitimate, and I do not see a single objection that can halt the TurkStream project. In fact, there are no such objections,"" he said.
Telekom Srbija's goal 1.5 mln subscribers
Telekom Srbija Group's Internet and Multimedia Coordinator Vladimir Lucic said Friday the company's goal was to increase the number of its cable television and internet subscribers to 1.5 mln. Telekom Srbija currently has over 900,000 subscribers - 680,000 in Serbia, 150,000 in Republika Srpska and nearly 80,000 in Montenegro. ""Our goal is to have over 1 mln television and internet subscribers in Serbia and over 1.5 mln subscribers as a group. Our foundation will be in the markets we have - Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina and the diaspora,"" Lucic told Prva TV.
